So Long Buddy
Well, today Mom came over to do the laundry. When it was time to go home, Buddy was loaded in his crate, and went home with Mom. Mom called later to tell me that Buddy was adjusting well, and was already settled into his favorite spot - the window facing the street.
Earlier in the day, Buddy had gotten into Mimi's and attacked poor Cubby Bear. Not to mention last night before I went to bed, I discovered a dead robin head and 1/2 a wing on my bottom steps...yeah, it was time for Buddy to go....
And just in time! Nessa will be here tomorrow afternoon and she is bringing 2 beautiful twin baby girl kittens! Today I bought pink and purple collars for them complete with little bells, and they are hidden away from the girl's view. They have no idea they are getting a kitten tomorrow, nevermind 2! Hubby sent me an e-mail yesterday asking me to take pictures of the girl's reactions when they see the kittens. I know he's secretly excited about it...LOL
I made a purchase this afternoon. Well 2, actually...the first I can't tell y'all about...but it is awesome. Well Mimi knows about it....but the other thing I bought was a Hoover SteamVac for the rugs. I am so excited. I am gonna clean the rugs and furniture. I am practically giddy at the prospect of it!!
But I haven't shared the bad news for today....I went to the dentist today. I knew I had to do it, and I have had the appointment for 2 weeks. Well....the good news is, after not going to a dentist for 10 years, I have zero cavities! The bad news? I need to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted. Lovely....now I am going to have to find someone to take care of the kids and me for a day or two.....because I will be so drugged up, I won't know my backside from my elbow.....
So, that's been my day in a nutshell...I am not looking forward to surgery....but I know once it's over, most of the pain will be gone forever!

In Which I Must Share This Story....
If you have never read anything by Magazine Man, I highly reccommend you look for the link on the sidebar.....but currently, the theme has surrounded his faithful dog, Blaze disappearing....You must enjoy reading a lot in order to get the whole story...there is more, but Magazine Man will give more details after he recovers from injuries.
First - In Which He is 0 for 2....
Second - In Which You Arent's the Only Ones Tired of Cliffhangers...
Third - In Which We learn the Fate of One Good Dog....
Fourth - In Which the Masthead Goes Radio-Silent for a Bit....
and Lastly (for the purpose of learning the summary of the fate of things) - In Which We Review the Butcher's Bill...
As you might have guessed, I cried like a baby....I am eager to hear the in-depth story...no doubt there will be at least 2-3 parts (MM is not a man of brevity, and that's a good thing). But for now, I am content with the outcome.....

Did I Miss Something?
I mean, I know that I haven't been blogging a lot lately, but wow....only one comment total in the last 2 entries? Is this blog even coming up anymore? Have all my friends and blogging buddies forgotten about me just cause I am not blogging 3 times a day?
It's pretty sad when I am anxious to check my email, and all I have is spam. And a comment about not getting a kitten...and that's it...in nearly a week....
man, I wish I could show you all pictures form this vacation...you all will just have to wait....and my comments will just have to remain empty I suppose....
Hope You All had a great Independance Day! Mine was great. Went to the beach, worked on my sunburn/tan. Then went to a parade; the kids got a bunch of candy from the parade floats. And my father taught my 2 year old that running infront of moving vehilces is OK if candy is innvolved. *sighs* I think that I'll have to unteach them a few things when we get back to Connecticut. Emily and my parents went to watch the fireowrks. I had a migraine, and Kaity was cranky and tred. I put her to bed about 10 minutes after they left. She was out before I finished folding my laundry. Score some points for Mom standing her ground on that one.
Well here comes the family. I must sign off. Hope you all have a good rest of your week!

Greetings from the Vineyard!

HELLO EVERYONE!!! I have been super duper busy having a great visiti with my parents and realxing! I am taking a break from the fun to say hello to everyone, and give you all some updates on my life since I posted last week!
Well, I cleaned like a crazy person, and the house will look great when I get back :) We headed to Nessa's house on Thursday and hung out. Nessa and I followed up a lead on some kittens. The girls had fun with Nessa's little sister, and we all went to bed early. Got up at like 6:15 the next morning, got dressed and headed towards the Vineyard. We managed to make the 9:30 boat and by 10:30 we were walking up Circuit Ave.
Later that afternoon, after a short cat nap for us all, I checked my phone and saw that Hubby had called!! I was so sad I missed his call. Later on in the evening, I got to talk to him, and it was so nice. We went to the flying horses, and Kaity got the brass ring! That night , as it was my mom's birthday, we had a cookout, cake and presents for Mum.
Yesterday, we went to Flying horses again, and this time Emily got the brass ring!! Then in the afternoon we hit the beach, and I got together with my friend's Eric and Kristina. Eric cooked dinner, and much to my and Kristina's delight, it was very good! I had a drink or two (or maybe a bottle of Merlot) too many, and they drove me home. Somewhwere in there Hubby called twice, and we all had a good laugh talking to him.
Today we were planning on Strawberry picking. Well, we got to the place, and it was closed. I had called a head to make sure it was going to be open, but after checking the paper after going into town, we discovered I had called the wrong number (even though the recording I got with the first number did indeed say they were open). So I called the number in the paper, only to discover that the farm was closed indeffinitely, due to the heavy rains in June, much of the crops had been ruined, and there was no strawberries left to pick. It was a sad sad thing to find out. The girls were especially disappointed at the news.
So I am waiting for Mum to get home from the store so we can go out for a baot ride on Uncle Jim's boat. This girls have had a great time in the past, and I am hoping we will maek it out today. I hope you all are having a good week, and I will check back in again in a couple days with tales of our vacation. I'll have to wait until I get home to post pictures, but I do have some great ones! The ones I have now up here are collected from the net....
Talk to you all soon! Have a great Holiday!

Summer is in Full Swing
So since my last post.....
Hubby left on Wednesday. He really is gone for a while now. He'll be back soon though. The kids have been playing with neighbors and friends from school, it's been nice.
I have been furiously working on getting the house clean, so that I can go to the Vineyard this weekend for about a week. I hate coming home to a dirty house, so if I can get some semblance of order done, I feel more at ease getting home. Today I am tackling the girl's bedroom. It will take me about 3 hours because I am going through toys, and getting a few bags for Goodwill ready, then I will sort all the toys into the bins they belong in, the toys alone takes about 2 hours! Hopefully, because I am removing so many toys this time, cleaning will be less of a task for them and me in the future.
Mimi is away and I have the task of getting her mail. She didn't get any until Monday, which freaked me out a little, because I thought that maybe I was not supposed to get it.
This past weekend it rained. POURED. The kids and I went to a craft get together with the boat wives, to work on thing for the Big Deployment coming up. I didn't get much accomplished, but it was nice to get out of the house for a change!
Emily has asked me if we could get a kitten. I am not against this, but I want to get Buddy to a new home first. His bird and squirrel antics are becoming more regular and my patience is wearing thin. My mom and dad in New London took him over the summer last year, adn were sad to see him go, so I asked mom if she would want to take him again, this time permanantly. She was no opposed to it, but has to check with dad. So Buddy will still be in the family, just at a different house. I also have to email Hubby and make sure this is OK with Him...but I think it will be. As long as Buddy isn't here any longer! I'll keep everyone posted.
Yesterday I recieved a surprise in my inbox. Dr. John informed me that I won a "Doctorate" in his JC points drawing this week! I was honored. As soon as I get it, I will post a picture of it. I am so excited! Thank You to Dr. John!
Well I am off to clean. I have been trying to read more blogs, but with the summer, it is a busy busy time, and I don't always have the time. I may have some time while on the Vineyard, but probably not. I'lll check in again before I go.

I leave for ONE weekend...
...and the whole blogging world changes!! But first let me tell you about the weekend, breifly...well as briefly as I am capable of....
Friday I arrived at Nessa's after much confusion from Hubby and my organizational skills. I finally got on the road, and of course, hit traffic as soon as I reached Rhode Island's Metro area. Ahh I-95 on a Friday Afternoon....good times, good traffic and lots of stop and go...so I met Danielle, Nessa's "main" bridesmaid at the house. We unloaded the truck and got to the grocery store. Got food, and then went to another store and then headed to the best italian bakery in Rhode Island - Calvito's. Armed with egg biscuits and pizza strips (mmmm..I missed those), we went back to Nessa's and unloaded groceries. We started working on final arrangements, then Nessa came home. Then we headed to my favorte chinese restaurant and had an aweseme dinner. A great start. But we still had a lot of work to do.
We worked on food til midnight - as well as polished off a couple bottles of wine and wine coolers - with Nessa's mom and talked, told, stories and nearly wet ourselves from laughing so hard at some points. We made major headway, but it was past midnight, and we needed to get to bed. I was asleep by 1 am.
Saturday I was awoken by Kaity (she was with me, part of the confusion mentiioned earlier with Hubby) at the lovely hour of 5:45 am. Needless to say, I got started on more food prep and when Nessa woke at 7 am , I was in desperate need of coffee, so Nessa made a Dunkin' Donuts run. Ahhh...I felt much better. Daneille arrived about 10 am. We got down to business with finishing up the food, and getting supplies, etc. ready and then showered and all got dressed. We were out the door and headed to Nessa's Grandmother's by 1 pm.
At arrival we made iced tea, hot tea and got the food tables set up. Then we started to get guests! I had to run back to Nessa's because in all the craziness, I left Nessa's gift at home - duh. I got back and the party started.
With all the food, and games I was busy busy busy. Everyone was entertained from the games and laughed and oohed and ahhed at Nessa's presents. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the shower and I got lots of compliments. My feet were killing me and I was so, so tired, but we cleaned up and headed back to Nessa's. I was planning on crashing again there, but a phone call to Hubby made me change my mind. So, I made the drive back to CT, through some lovely pouring rain showers, some of which I was going 45 on the highway because I couldn't even see the front end of the truck. I arrived home only to find out hubby had called and told me to stay in RI a mere 15 minutes earlier due to the weather...Oh yeah, thanks Hubby!
When I arrived home, I set out at wrapping Hubby's Father's Day presents from me and the kids. Then I spent the evening watchhing DVD's in bed with Hubby and the kids.
Sunday the kids and I presented Hubby with his gifts. A new drill and a new watch. He seemed very pleased with both and we had a relaxing morning. We went to the mall, did a little shopping and came home and ordered out for dinner. A nice day was had by all.
Monday I did some much needed relaxing. I didn't do too much cleaning, and took Em to the doctor's for her school physical. She got 3 shots, but was very brave. Both kids got stickers for being so good. Emily is 3 ' 10"!!! She is nearly 4 feet tall at age 5. She is off the charts. I was gobsmacked!
So as for the changes I mentioned at the beginning fo the post....Mimi's new layout is fabulous. Go check it out. I plan on having Pixie redesign this site soon...Dr. John and Laurie have made a great little friendship and Dr. John even made homage to her in Pigeon Falls, the little town he and his wife Betty are building in their backyard, complete with trains and people. Make sure you read the Pigeon Falls updates at then end of his enties. They are so well thought out and a very interesting story!! I have to admit, someday I'd love to see it in pictures, completed. I am sure Dr. John will oblige.
Well I certainly have written a book today. And now you all are caught p on MY life over the weekend and the beginning of the week. I hope to post again later....

Almost Ready....

Well, A little bit of stress has ebbed ....
I was stressing because the main items I ordered for favors for all the guests for Nessa's shower didn't get ordered until this past Saturday. When I called the company, they had informed me it would be Friday or next Monday. Of course I freaked out because the shower is this coming Saturday...
Thank You Technology! All day I have been tracking, via UPS's website, my shipment. I saw my package had left Ohio, where the company is located, and was on time, in transit. The status hadn't changed all day. I had to go to a Boat Wive's function this evening and as soon as I came home I checked the site again. I am happy to report that my package is in the state of Connecticut! WOO-HOO!!!!
I have almost everything ready. I have lists. I have quizzes printed out. I have quiz answers. I even have most of the prizes for games packaged and ready to go. I am ready. I am gonna be OK.
I feel much better now....I'll feel even better when that package gets here tomorrow! WOOHOOO!!!
And BTW Nessa, even if I did give away what the package contained to you in my stessed out call yesterday, thanks for ignoring it! And the picture here does not have anything to do with your theme or decorations! So get it out of your head right now!!
I'll try to write more tomorrow morning about stuff from today....but I have some projects to take care of....y'know, Shower Stuff....
Wed - 8:35 AM - UPDATE: The package is now a mere 25 miles away or less!! UPS at 7:24 this morning scanned my package as it went inot the truck for delivery! YIPPEE!!!

Time Out With Em
Last night, to mark the first full day of summer vacation, Emily and I went and did some something together. No Sister and no Daddy. Em call's it "Together Time"
The first day of summer was cold, and most of the day it was pouring. What a way to mark it. UGH! Emily had expressed interest in us doing something together, because we hadn't in a while, so I tried to find something that would be inexpensive, and fun. And since it was pouring, I knew Chuck E. Cheese's was gonna be packed, I decided to take her to see "Over the Hedge" and grab something to eat in the mini mall where the theatre is located.
Dinner was under $10. I love Subway and their $2.99 sub of the day. Yesterday it was ...mmmmm Turkey. Emily got a tuna kids pack, but she was so excited about the movie, she barely ate anything. So we headed to the theatre. Holy crap. The tickets alone were over $15 for an adult and child! Then snacks-- I came home with $1 left of the $40 I took out of the bank. I cannot believe how expensive movies are now! Granted the last few times I went to the movies it was a matinee, but now I am seriously considering seeing matinee's every time from now on! UNBELIVEABLE!!!
The movie was funny. The story line was a bit predictable, but it's pretty much a kid's movie, so of course, for a 20-something mother it was going to be. But the chracters were funny. My favorite scenes involved "Hammy" and his doings after having a caffinated beverage toward the end, and a scene after that, involving the porcupine babies. I was rolling.
While I reccommend that you either go to a matinee or wait for the DVD, Over the Hedge is a funny film. Both parents and kids (who are suckers for slapstick - animated or live action) will enjoy it.
The Bonus? When we came out of the theatre, it had stopped raining, and was drying a bit. It made me hopeful that all this rain would go away in time for Saturday....Well, It's still cloudy, but I am still holding out for a miracle...
Oh, I should mention, that after splitting a small popcorn, Twizzlers & Sno Caps with me, Emily came home and finished her tuna sandwich. I was so proud!

He Did It AGAIN and The Truck Saga Continues
When I came downstairs today for the morning, I was greeted by a dead robin, and a floor covered with feathers. Somewhere in the hour after Hubby was picked up for work and when I got up, Buddy knocked in the aluminum screen (damn it!) and dragged poor helpless bird to it's demise on my entry way.
I suppose one of my questions has been answered now: He does it as a gift to us.
As nice as a gesture as it is, it's DISGUSTING! On to other news....
Well as some of you know, the car died again. Oh, it didn't just die, it went into a friggin' seizure and then died. Perhaps I should explain more:
We picked the truck up on Thursday. I was happy. Friday we had plans to go register the car, then go to Emily's Pre-K Family Picnic at the school. I had gone to the base to deal with more red tape on how to register the car. Picked Hubby up, and we headed to town hall to get a tax exemption for it. As we stopped at the light just before the building, the car alarm started making a fast "boo boo boo boo, boo boo boo boo" sound, and the locks were racing up and down. I looked at my spedometer, and it wasn't working, the radio was dead....I tried to get the 500 feet into the parking lot. Just as I pulled into the space, the car died completely. I would not restart.
We got out and I took the kids and headed into the tax office to do what I needed to do. Hubby took a look at the electrical. When I came out, he was pulling wires everywhere. I assume he was disconnecting all the fancy "add ons" the truck had. We tried over and over to get the damn thing fixed quick to take it home. No Dice. I called our friend Jen. Emily was already late for school and I called the school to let them know she would be late. Jen came and picked us all up dropped Hubby off (who was now livid, I will add, since we had just dropped $120 to get the damn thing fixed the day before) and headed to the school for the "picnic". I silently thanked myself for making the ambrosia early that morning, before we went on errands. There was no way I would have had it ready in time had I not.
We got to the picnic, and it was a good time. Our friend who let us borrow the van earlier in the week, told us we could use the van again. The kids ate, played games and Emily's teacher bawled at the hand painted plate the class and the teacher's aides had made for her. A nice time was had by all. Then we got a ride back home, where we had to face the enevitable question....what do we do now?
Hubby was now calmer than when I had left him for the picnic, and we tried to come up with a solution....He decided we would get the truck towed back to the house and let it sit there to be fixed when re-enlistment bonus time came. Then I would go and buy what I had been wanting for a while now -- a minivan!
On Saturday morning, I set out and went to one dealership. We were turned down. I called Hubby, dismayed, and was afraid that if I went to all the dealerships, they would all tell me the same thing. Of course, I was right..... I went to one more dealership, and they actually seemed like they were going to be able to help us. But they need to talk to someone at the bank. And it was Saturday. I had to wait until Monday. Sunday we spent most of the day in bed hanging out. I was depressed all day, and hadn't slept well all weekend.
Monday rolled around, and I knew we had to get the truck towed or else the police would tow it, and that would be BAD. It was still at town hall. After I dropped Hubby off in the borrowed van, I went home and started calling the dealership. Of course....I got the waiting game. I decided I couldn't wait anymore, and after dropping Em off at school, I headed to town hall and called the dealership one last time. Finally I got an answer: No, they couldn't help me. I called Hubby to tell him the bad news, and promptly called the insurance company to have the truck towed. I was told 30-45 minutes. That was ok, I had time. It was 12:45. 45 minutes came and went. at 2:15 I feaked out and called the insurance company. They said the tow truck should have came by then. I got off the phone with them, waited 10 minutes, and called the company that was to tow us. Ironically, it was the place that had "fixed" our electrical last week. They said they had had a busy lunch. I told them I had a 2 year old who was hungry and tired, and sitting here for nearly 2 hours I was VERY angry and was reporting to my insurance agency about them getting taken off the list for towing and repairs. 10 minutes later they showed up.
I got the truck home, and in the car port. I had 3 minutes until it was time to go get Em. Thankfully, she went to a friend's house after school, and I headed home again. Hubby was home by then and very down. My friend Jess (a fellow Boat Wife) offered her husband to come over after dinner to have a look at it, since he was good with cars. He was over about 6. I got to talk to Ed's mom ad step-dad (Hi Nana and Nano!! I know you read the blog now!!), and while I was telling them all about the saga, I heard the truck start. I did a happy dance. But, a few minutes later it died again. Hey at least they were making progress!! After some more examination and testing, it was concluded the problem was....drumroll PLEASE.......
The Alternator.
Why the repair shop hadn't figured that out last week is beyond me. I got on the phone and started to make inquiries about alternators. While they are more expensive than I was anticipating, it's a lot less than what I was expecting, especially since Hubby can install it himself. Today I am going to make more calls, and hopefully by the weekend, the replacement will be in, and the truck will be working. I won't have a car alarm or auto door unlocks, but it's a small price to pay. Besides, Hubby says we'll get a PROFESSIONALLY installed one later this summer....
So keep your fingers and toes crossed that a replacement alternator is available soon and when installed, the truck works.
Herein ends the saga for today.....

When God Closes a Door...
....somwhere he opens a window...
Hubby's truck is fixed!!! ...well as best as it can be. They told me that the hack job on the electrical is going to cause me more problems, but for now, my main concern is that it is drivable enough to get me through to October, when Hubby said last night that I can buy myself a used minivan with the re-enlistment bonus. YAY!!
So I will have the truck. I will have a rear hatch (as long as the rear wiper button is turned on -- DON'T ASK), and I now have breaklights. HALELUJIAH!!!!
I cannot wait to test out the rear hatch to open my truck today...I get to go grocery shopping, and you bet your bottom dollar that I AM going to put groceries in the BACK!!
OK time to get kids dressed and Em ready for school....
Hope y'all have a great day!

So many of you may recall my cat Buddy brought a bird into the house last month. Well, about a week or 2 later, he did it again. That time I took the bird in a hand towel and he got out safely. Apparently Buddy has moved on to more challenging game.....This happened Monday, and between cars, money and fights with Hubby, I forgot to tell you all...I'll just share the IM log with Jeopardygirl this morning.....names and spelling errors have been changed to protect privacy....
CissaFireheart (9:15:21 AM): OMG did I tell you about the squirrell???
Jeopardygirl (9:15:38 AM): no, is it AJ's squirrel?
CissaFireheart (9:15:45 AM): Monday I was on the phone with Nessa's Mom
CissaFireheart (9:16:07 AM): and the girls were pointing at something by the stairs, and I saw buddy laying at the bottom
CissaFireheart (9:16:25 AM): looking like he was attacking the girls clothes again or a toy
CissaFireheart (9:16:31 AM): I go over to shoo him away
CissaFireheart (9:16:45 AM): I realize - IT'S A DEAD SQUIRRELL!!!
Jeopardygirl (9:16:50 AM): ICK!
CissaFireheart (9:16:57 AM): I screamed at the top of my lungs
CissaFireheart (9:17:10 AM): poor Nessa's Mom was like "What? What???"
CissaFireheart (9:17:25 AM): I told her there was a dead squirrell at the bottom of my staircase.
CissaFireheart (9:17:33 AM): got off the phone
CissaFireheart (9:17:57 AM): ordered the girls to STAY ON THE COUCH AWAY FROM THE STAIRS
CissaFireheart (9:18:27 AM): did a running jump to the small landing after 2 steps over the squirrell incase it was still alive
CissaFireheart (9:18:42 AM): ran upstairs to wake Hubby and scream about rabies
CissaFireheart (9:19:21 AM): then came back down. leaped over dead squirrell again. asked the girls if it moved. it didn't
CissaFireheart (9:19:32 AM): got some plastic bags and newspaper
CissaFireheart (9:20:09 AM): made Hubby pick it up and place in plastic bag, then double bagged it so flies and scavengers wouldn't smell it
CissaFireheart (9:20:21 AM): made Hubby take it outside and deposit in the trash
CissaFireheart (9:20:40 AM): then took trash out and covered dead squirrel in bag to hide it
CissaFireheart (9:20:41 AM): lol
Jeopardygirl (9:20:51 AM): your cat killed a squirrel?
CissaFireheart (9:21:06 AM): freaked out and wondered how I'd missed the fact that he got IN the house with a dead squirrel
CissaFireheart (9:21:11 AM): apparently
CissaFireheart (9:21:20 AM): we see him chasing them all the time
Jeopardygirl (9:21:23 AM): that's a good watch cat
CissaFireheart (9:21:29 AM): birds, squirrells, chipmunks
Jeopardygirl (9:21:37 AM): Mo got a bird, once.
Jeopardygirl (9:21:40 AM): and a mouse
CissaFireheart (9:21:52 AM): we all know he's done birds, apparently they aren't a challenge any longer LOL
CissaFireheart (9:22:14 AM): I will never have to worry about mice now, of this I am certain LOL
Jeopardygirl (9:22:30 AM): lol
CissaFireheart (9:22:46 AM): but christ, I could have killed him that moment I was so freaked out
Thus ends the excitement I had this week.....We are buying the hard aluminum removable window screens for the downstairs, so that Buddy cant push them out and go in and out as he pleases...nor can he drag dead (or live) animals inside with him. Enough is enough....what's next? Skunks and Possums?!?!

Really Not Happy
So, those who know me in the Real World, know that I used to have 2 cars, and now I have one. This is a bit of an inconvienience at times, but with Hubby gearing up for a 6 month deployment, school almost being out for the year, and T-Ball having it's last games this week, pluss Hubby being home because of surgery, I haven't had to do a lot of managing 2 lifestyles with one car. But there are times that I wish I didn't have to get up at the ass-crack of dawn to drive Hubby in to work, then have to pick him up, in addition to dopping off and picking up Emily.
However, the truck has been having problems that we have avoided being taken care of for a while, and I am at the point wehre I just can not take it anymore. I got the truck to the mechanics today. Mimi picked me up from the auto shop, and took me home. But while I was there, I was told because we had custom electrical work from the previous owner, they may not be able to help us out. This did not bode well on me. Not to mention the fact that they also told me they may not be able to have the care ready today if they can fix it...
So right now, I have no car, and if I do get the car back, it may or may not have working tail lights. And a back hatch that opens. The hatch has been broken for over a year. The tail lights are a new development, but it means I can't drive at night. Remeber when I had to drive back from MA a couple weeks ago? 3 hours of hazard lights, blinking and clicking. Because the electrical is all jacked up.
So before I took the truck to the shop, I was driving Hubby to work. I mentioned, not for the first time, that I felt it would be better use of money to pay off the truck with his yearly re-enlistment bonus, and get me a used car, so that we both had a car again. That idea did not go over well with him. I am angry and frustrated. HE would rather spend his money on building himself another computer...pardon my language but....he just blew $3000 on a fucking laptop!! WHY THE HELL does he NEED another fucking machine??? Why the hell won't he step up and take responsibility for his fucking family???? I HATE HIM RIGHT NOW!!
Yeah...so I am going to go pick up a minivan my friend is letting us borrow. Pray that my truck is ready today. If they can't fix it, Hubby and I will be fighting again. Because I am going to INSIST that we trade his truck in for a better car that actually WORKS......
later all.....

My Weekend - Day 2 - Saturday Part 1
I woke up Saturday morning at 10 past 7. Nessa was up and starting her day too, as she was going to her College Graduation Ceremony that morning. I had laid everyone's clothes out the night before, so I grabbed my yoga pants and tee and got dressed, put in the contacts and headed out the door for Breakfast. A lovely 2 minute drive to Dunkin' Donuts yeilded a large coffee, a breakfast sandwich for Hubby, and donuts and juice for the kids. I woke Kaity up, got her dressed, gave her the donut, and headed out just as Emmy was sitting down to eat hers.
Friday we had driven past the spot that the Great Strides Walk was to meet, just to familiarize myself with Roger Williams Park again after a long time. I got to the Carousel Village and had a PRIME parking spot, got out, loaded Kaity into the jogger stoller I borrowed from a friend in CT and headed to where I was supposed to check in.
I could spot my friend Pat from a mile away. Except for sporting a goatee and Moustache, or "Van Dyke" as Magazine Man tells the world it's called, he was relatively the same. Still thin -- I hated him! LOL...So I checked in, and scored some free food (Dunkin' Donuts was there, DAMN I wasted $3.00 for coffee for myself!) and juice for Kaity. I met Kerry, Pat's wife, and of course, Finn, the man of the hour, for whom I was doing this walk... More and more of "Finnz Friendz" showed up. I got a t-shirt, so did Kaity. I took some pictures...

Then the walk began! It was about 5k or a little over 3 miles, and I did very well. Pat and I walked with Kaity and Finn in strollers and we talked the whole time, reminiscing, sharing stories on how we met our spouses, etc. It was a great time. The best part was the fact that part of the walk through RWP was in the vicinity of where I grew up. I was bombarded with memories and stories of walking to Park View Jr. High through RWP, picking daffodills in the spring, parking and making out in high school....what a trip down memory lane....
At the halfway point, the RI Parrothead Club (Yes, as in Jimmy Buffet), had a "Tiki Bar" with water, juice, and fruit. It was real nice. When we got to the finish line, there was a Jimmy Buffet cover band playing and they were playing Finn's song! (according to Pat). I had Pizza strips (RI Italian bakery style, sorry I didn't take a picture, but I should have!) and more water to drink. Kaity had some pizza strip too. Then it was time for a "Team Finnz Friendz" Picture! YAY!
(I'm in the front on the right holding Kaity and wearing my Pink Red Sox hat....)
I checked my watch and realized I had to jet, so that I could drive to Woods Hole to catch the 2:30 boat to Oak Bluffs...We took a few pictures with Pat, Kerry, and Finn...
Then we headed back to Nessa's, packed the car, and got on the highway to Woods Hole! While in the parking lot, we ran into my Mum's college roomate, Darlene, who we ended up pretty much spending most of the weekend in the presence with.....We got on the boat, and landed in Oak Bluffs about 3:15....and from there, the craziness began!
This was a pretty long post, so I will try to finish Saturday's stuff tonight or tomorrow.....

My Weekend - Day 1 - Friday
OK So Friday we packed up the truck (SUV, whatever)and drove the 45 minutes to Nessa's house. We were greeted by Nessa's little sister, who played with the kids for about20 minutes before Mom, who lives downstairs, whisked her away to dinner. We hung out and waited for Nessa and Dave to arrive. I figured out the satelite dish. I rock!
Nessa and Dave got home and we all chatted for a bit, joked around and stuff then got our asses moving to the BEST chinese food in Rhode Island. New Canton Restaurant is what all chinese food should be, in my opionion, and waiting a good 10 years before having it again was worth the wait. Form my first bite to last, I was in a perfect tatse-bud heaven. My god, my mouth is watering now, just thinking about it.
After dinner, we dropped of Dave, Hubby and the kids and went shopping for the shoes I had attempted to get in New London, but they didn't have them at the Burlington Coat Factory there. I tried on shoes, we did a little perusing, then got in line. Now, call me crazy, but if you KNOW you've got a store full of people, and it's closing time, wouldnt't you have as many registers as possible open to get said people out as fast as possible??? Apparently, Burlington Coat Factory did not feel this was necessary, and we waited in line for nearly 20 minutes to pay for the 2 measly pair of shoes (which got heavier and heavier by the minute, I will add). Thanks to my keen eyes, I found a shorter line, else we would have been there forever.
We got in the car and drove home. Soon after arriving back at Nessa's, Danielle (pronounced Don-yell)arrived and we had a good visit with her. She's the other main bridesmaid for Nessa's wedding, and I was glad to finally meet her. We told sories about weddings, childbirth, ex-girlfiends of our significant others. It was fun. They left about 10:30 and we hung out and watched TV a bit longer before Dave went home, and Hubby and I attempted to get some sleep.
Now, I love Nessa, love her to death, but I think I am going to buy her a new fucking couch, preferably a queen size futon. Her pull out couch was NOT comfy, as Hubby and I discovered, and much to my chargin, I slept like hell on it. But before I went to sleep, I watched part of a movie called "Crash". No, this wasn't the movie that won an Academy Award for best picture. This was a twisted movie about people who litterally got off on watching and being in car crashes. James Spader, Patricia Arquette, Holly Hunter and a few others had lots of sex, watched lots of crashes on video, and even got in a few themselves..then had sex thinkign aout it afterward. Very very strange movie. So, then after about an hour of it, we got bored and went to sleep....
That was Friday...I'll write abotu Saturday later on....

The Letter "F"
I volunteered for this from Jeopardygirl's blog....I was assigned letter F...I have to list 10 things in my life that begin with this letter and a little explination....I don't think I could have gotten a tougher letter. Most of this stuff is going to be very general I think....
Father - Just about everyone has on at some point in their life...even if it's just a sperm donor...Anyway, my father is the source of many emotional issues I have at the moment. I'm getting through them with my shrink...
Fruit - I try to have at least once piece of fruit per day. Usually as dessert. Lately I'd rather hav an orange than a bowl of ice cream....which is good because I need to lose some wieght this summer...
Freedom - As an American Citizen it is my right to have this. I am reminded daily that I have it and try to exercise it in some way....
Finances - this should be listed as something I have very little of, but want more of. Hell, who doesn't?
Feet - since spring is here and summer is emminent, I need to pay more attention to them and get the occasional pedicure. My feet deserve it after all the walking they do on a daily basis!
Feelings - My emotions. I wear them on my sleeve most of the time. They can be intense.
Family - A constant in my life. I feel I never get a break from them....sometimes it can be smothering and overwhelming, and then there are days I am so damn glad I have them I want to cry with joy. I am also looking forward to seeing the extended family this weekend on the Vineyard.
Friends - Whether through the internet, or real life friends, I have some really good ones. I'd be completely lost without them for support, a listening ear, or the favors they do for me...
Family Support Group - a.k.a. the Boat Wives. I have been very active in this group of people lately. Cookbooks, helping other wives in times of crisis, volunteering for projects, I have been doing it all.....
Friday - always a favorite. And the last few have been really nice. Visiting with friends, doing things with family, and overall having a good time on these days. I am truly truly looking forward to tomorrow..I get to see Nessa again!! :)
OK, that was a little easier than I thought. If you are interested in playing, leave a comment and I will assign you a letter too....

Stupid Lottery....
Yesterday was a sucky day. I was rushed around running errands and missed the names being pulled for the All-Day Kindergarten Lottery. Emily was in it. She didn't get her name pulled. I am very very sad about this. Emily is very very sad about this. We are hoping that her name will be pulled in the second lottery in August.
It was raining once again and a friggin tractor trailer truck nearly ran me off the New London Bridge.
Add in a lovely monthly female issue, and you can see why I hated yesterday. Thank god the sun came out today. I was really starting to get depressed....
crazy weekend coming up. I need to start packing....I hope to post again tomorrow, if not, then maybe on Sunday night or Monday
Have a nice week/weekend all...

The Actual Surprise...
So where did we leave off....? Oh yes, the phone rang...
Wait. I need to give a little background.
I have 2 sets of parents - Mom & Dad and Mum & Dad...ok ...clarify...right...ok...Mom and Bob (whom I call Dad), my biological mother, who raised me and I spent about 9 months and every other holiday with and her husband of 3 years, and Dad and Donna (who I call Mum), whom I spent every summer and every other holiday with, until senior year of high school when I moved in for the whole year. Dad and Mum married 25 years ago May 21st...right, ok, so Mom had a son after me, JP. He's 23, schizophrenic and lives in a group home in RI. Mum & Dad have two kids, Shell and Pokeman (not thier real names, duh). Now that we have that cleared away...
Shell graduated from college on Saturday. Mum & Dad drove up to see her graduate, and then packed her apartment up and they were driving back to the Vineyard on Sunday. There was a ever so slight chance that they would have time to stop. But this is my family, and they are 99.9% of the time late, or running late. So, I figured they weren't gonna stop by. In fact, I forgot all about them....until I picked up the phone seeing my sister's cell number on the Caller ID.
"Hey Shell! What's up?" I love to hear from my sister...I assumed she was calling to tell me they made it to the Vineyard safe. It's something we do as a family. Call each other when we get home from traveling...anyway....
"He-eey! Is it ok if we stop by? I need to figure out how to get to your house too," I glanced at my watch.
"Uuuum, ooookay? About when?"
"Well," she paused. I assumed she was trying to figure about where in CT she was.
"OK, well, where are you on the highway," I said, trying to get info to gage the distance. This would help me figure how clean I could get the house in a limited time.
"Um, we're taking the Groton exit right now," she said as quietly as possible on a cell phone.
SURPRISE!!!!
"You're on the exit?!?! So like, 5 minutes. Ok, um...sure! The house is a bit of a mess at the moment, and I hope you guys won't mind....EMILY!!!!" I then called my kids, got them dressed in about 2 seconds and got myself dressed while giving my sister directions to my house and managed to convince the kids to pick up the living room quickly. Litterally 5 minutes later, I was standing in my driveway, clothes thrown on, greasy hair (I was planning a relaxing bath later where Hubby could wash my hair), house a mess, and here come 2 cars, filled to the brim with Shell's things, and of course my parents, Shell and Pokeman. Emily recognized my parents SUV right away and was thrilled to pieces to see them. They were very polite about the house, and actually, made me feel better especially since my Mum knew about my crazy week.
Emily has been saving up money from the Tooth Fairy and her birthday to buy a new V-Smile game. Since she lost her 3rd tooth on Friday evening, she got her game on Saturday (paid with it too, she was so proud and told the cashier she saved the money herself LOL) So when my parents and siblings came, of course, they had to get a presnetation of the new game. It was funny to watch my parents help her play the game. Even Pokeman, who as you might have guessed is into the video game thing as well, was trying to help her with it. A nice time was had by all, especially Buddy the Birdhunter, who got LOTS of attention from my father.
They stayed about a half hour, and we had a nice visit. I am looking forward to seeing them this weekend for the Anniversary party.....
But you know what I did as soon as their car was out of the driveway and out of sight?
Changed back into my jammies and went straight back to bed! It was my day off, afterall...
